Movie – Summer Wars [BD]

Movies Feb 1, 2020

Overview:

Summer Wars shows a future that isn’t that revolves around a online world called OZ. Shown throughout the film, even the most basic of devices use this virtual world. Everything from games, shopping, jobs, social ect goes through it. There is an online alias that people create and log into to use the world.

The world of OZ was known for its high-end security that was improbable to break into. Of course, improbable means there is still a small chance of it happening and that is what this film revolves around. Once the security is broken, the main villain of the movie is on a lose and destroying the foundation of the world, locking and stealing accounts from people so that they cannot log into anymore.

Due to the world basically revolving around this online world, important things such as an asteroid probe named Arawashi is endangering the world. In order to prevent anything catastrophic from happening the main villain must be stopped to avoid any lasting damage that would come.

Visuals/Music:

Considering the movie is made back in 2009 the animation is till very fluid and solid. Colors are vivid and crisp. It is still better than some of the current anime movies which is quite a feat considering its over 10 years ago it was released. Madhouse did an excellent job with the film.

Music was good and assisted with immersion. There were not any problems with it and none of it felt out of place. It is good and does as it is intended, doesn’t distract or take away from the mood, only helps heighten it.

Final Thoughts:

Last time I saw the film was about 6 years ago, its as good as I remember it being. It is enjoyable and keeps you entertained. It is not phenomenal or anything like that but worth the watch. I recommend it to anybody that wants to burn some time and wants something enjoyable to fill that time with.

The world that is shown throughout is something that I can see happening in the current world. It feels like that is the push, where everything is already slowly being pushed to online. OZ is a world that more or less fuses together parts of the internet but wraps it all in one place for simplicity and ease of use.
