Movie – Rambo - Last Blood

Overview:

Remembering back to that mustard gas and the trenches. Looking forward into the dark forest ahead and behind into that cloud of death. Sounds of gunshots, screams, agony and that pleasurable feeling of gun in hand as we walk to the end of unknowing as your heart skips a beat when the slightest of sounds are made. What glorious days these were and such perfect stories they are to convey to others in places such as grocery store checkout lines… checking out was the most common thing to do on these trips Afterall. A lucky person comes in for some eggs and instead leaves on edge looking around as the cars turn on and the headlights are thought to be flashbangs, poor guy is now living on edge and didn’t even get the eggs for those could have been nades.

Reminiscing on these old days has this old man rambling though, reminds me of the days sleeping in a self-dug hole only to be waken up by a boi pointing peculiar things at me. Oh ya, back to the review, first half was a poor setup/excuse for Rambo to go hard on his new-found victims. It was trying too hard to get an emotional attachment to the character at the beginning of the movie to the point where the viewer immediately knows what’s going to happen.

After the initial setup is done the action begins in the trenches. Short montage of setup and then the massacre begins. Even in his old age the old man has a fight in him. Tens of people come in and none come out, just like the old Rambo days. There is a remembrance few min at the end calling back to the previous movies to properly close out the Rambo Era. It really turned itself around by the end and became something worth watching.

Visuals/Music:

Visuals are good throughout, the explosions and gore from the killings that were done throughout the film were done well enough and looked believable. Didn’t have a point where I would go `bullshit, that can’t work`. As for the style of film, nothing too standout imo, which is a good thing, it was done well and keeps immersion throughout.

Music and background ost’s are what one would expect, and silence used when needed. Sound affects were good. No complaints for any of the visuals or sounds.

Final Thoughts:

For any who have seen the Rambo movies, you’ll know roughly what you are getting into. Sadly, this is the closer to his saga though. It’s a good type of sadness though, closes out in a way that I found to suit what needed to be done. Had a feeling of completion which is what one would expect for a closer.

It was meh at first, but that was due to focusing too much on story, I believe this was to prep the viewer for the ending though. Not a lot to say about the film other than it is solid by the end. Beginning portion could have been done better but story was never the focus in Rambo films so don’t see it as a bad thing.
