Movie – Abominable
Overview:
A mystical yeti… yup he gets caught, but not for long as aint nothing holding this thing down. He escapes and this is when the main characters have their brief introduction. After their introductions the yeti and main cast are introduced to each other which is where the journey for him to go home begins.
It’s a pretty simple plot of get from point A to B. There are people wanting to capture the yeti before he can get home. Slight plot twist here and there but nothing too unexpected.
The journey home consists of a background message about family and since this is a movie more aimed towards children it makes sense for it to be the focus point. The message that is pushed across is nice to see, pretty wholesome movie overall.
Visuals/Music:
Animation is pretty good and crisp. Everything is vibrant and looks nice. All people have a more cartoonish feel but that is the style they went for and everything around them melds together properly. Nothing felt out of place and the abilities and smaller affects that are showcased throughout look good.
There are a few songs throughout that are real songs instead of OST’s and they match the mood and feeling the film has. As for the OST’s, they do the job well enough. Not the best as some scenes felt a bit dull in comparison to a better background OST played that could have helped immersion. Small complaint as what was given was good enough and most importantly none of the background OST’s felt as though they are out of place which would break immersion.
Final Thoughts:
Ngl, after the first few min of the movie realized it wasn’t the one I was expecting. Picked this one randomly without looking thinking it was Smallfoot movie… but obviously I should have looked just a bit closer instead of seeing a yeti and assuming it was the proper one lol. Do not regret mistaking the movie though since probably wouldn’t have watched it if I realized sooner.
It’s a nice and calming type of film, I recommend it to anybody wanting to pass some time and is looking for something lighthearted. It’s a fun watch and enjoyable throughout. The pacing is smooth and fluid. Ignoring the travel distance to the end location and viewing it more simplistic of only the story being told can’t complain too much. It’s fun, gives some chuckles here and there with a satisfactory ending with pleasant music throughout.
