Anime – Kakegurui××

Anime Nov 22, 2019

Overview:

Kakegurui takes place right where the first season leaves off. Jabami continues to troll through her opponents but this time around reinforcements have been brought in. This season convers part of the election arc with the ending only feeling about halfway through. If there were to be 24 eps in this season it probably could have finished out the arc and fleshed out the events a tad better as the ending was a bit rushed with who the opponents were and how they concluded the season.

The company had a view of where to end it and they did whatever they could to achieve it, not necessarily a bad thing but sad to see they didn’t want to take more time to finish it out. My guess is they have a fear of not continuing with another season. Either way, what we ended up getting is still satisfying to watch and feels very similar in its vibe to the first one.

Visuals/Music:

The visuals of kakegurui are where it shines quite a bit, they were able to improve off the first seasons animation. It was more refinement than anything. Sometimes the characters movement feel a bit out of place but is not a common occurrence and does not break immersion.

The music is as it should be where it does not feel out of place and assists in keeping the viewer immersed and engaged. The opening was good but nothing much to say about it this time around, same as the ending.

Final Thoughts:

For those who have watched the first season of Kakegurui and found it to be enjoyable, check the second season out.

The characters expressions are something the series is known for and there is plenty of moments that you get some crazy ones thrown on screen, probably is a guilty pleasure of mine as I keep coming back for more.

The ending battle is something that I feel shouldn’t have been done or at least executed a lot different as there was a lot of new characters introduced but not utilized as they should or could have which is a shame. If season 3 comes out there is the possibility that the rest of the new cast can be used, however, the way it seems to be going that will not be the case.

There are quite a few games put into play with intricate rules at times. Watching the show for the sole reason of wanting to find more card games or interesting games to play with friends is a solid enough reason. I have personally played some of the games they introduced with others and they are as fun as they show in the anime with the right group of people. except without the life on the line bets or anything crazy like that heh
